iOS Apps Privacy Policy

This policy covers the iOS apps and games published by Gravelship on the App Store. It explains what information our apps collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. We have written it to be read, not skimmed. It is short because our apps collect very little.

Apps covered by this policy

This policy applies to every iOS app and game published by Gravelship, currently:

  • Balls and Walls, a two-player strategy game

Not every section applies to every app. Where an app does not offer online play, adverts or purchases, the corresponding section does not apply to it. An app's App Store listing describes the features it includes.

The short version

  • Our apps have no accounts, no sign-up and no user profiles. We do not ask for your name, email address or any personal details.
  • Your progress, saved games and settings are stored only on your device.
  • Where an app offers online play, it uses Apple Game Center, operated by Apple.
  • Free apps may show advertising provided by Google AdMob. Google may collect device information to serve and measure those ads, as described below.
  • Where an app offers purchases, they are handled by Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details.
  • You can opt out of personalised ads using the iOS "Allow Apps to Request to Track" prompt and, in the UK/EU, the consent screen shown in the app.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information we collect ourselves

None. Gravelship does not operate any servers for these apps and does not receive any data about you or your use of them.

1.2 Game Center (Apple)

If an app offers online or multiplayer play and you choose to use it, the app uses Apple's Game Center to find opponents, pass moves between players, and record achievements or leaderboards. Game Center handles your Apple ID, player nickname and the match or score data. This is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and the Game Center terms. We do not receive this data.

1.3 Advertising (Google AdMob)

Free apps may show adverts served by Google AdMob, for example between games or levels. To deliver and measure adverts, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect:

  • device identifiers, including the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), only if you allow tracking;
  • coarse location derived from your IP address;
  • device and app information (model, iOS version, language, app version);
  • interaction data (whether an advert was shown, viewed or tapped);
  • diagnostic and performance information.

How Google uses this information is described in Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

1.4 Purchases (Apple)

If an app offers in-app purchases or subscriptions, the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details and purchase history under Apple's Privacy Policy. The app receives only a confirmation that a purchase was made so it can unlock the relevant feature.

1.5 Crash and diagnostic data

Apple may share anonymised crash logs and usage statistics with us if you have opted in to sharing analytics with app developers in iOS Settings. These contain no personal information.

2. How the information is used

We never sell personal information and never use it for any purpose other than those listed above.

3. Your choices

  • Tracking and personalised ads. On first launch an app that shows adverts asks whether it may track you. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, Google receives no advertising identifier and serves non-personalised adverts. You can change this at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.
  • UK and EU consent. If you are in the UK or European Economic Area you will also see a consent screen provided by Google. You can decline personalised advertising there. To change your choice later, contact us and we will explain how to reset it, or reinstall the app.
  • Game Center. Where an app offers offline modes, you can use them without ever using Game Center. Manage Game Center in Settings, Game Center.
  • Delete data. Deleting an app removes all locally stored data for it. Game Center data is controlled through your Apple ID, and purchase history through your App Store account.

4. Data sharing

We share data only with the two service providers named above: Apple (Game Center, App Store) and Google (AdMob), each acting under its own privacy policy. We do not share data with anyone else.

5. International transfers

Google may process advertising data outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Google relies on standard contractual clauses and equivalent safeguards for such transfers; see Google's privacy policy for details.

6. Data retention

We hold no data ourselves. Google's retention periods for advertising data are described in its privacy policy. Game Center data is retained by Apple according to Game Center's rules and is removed when a match ends or is deleted.

7. Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Advertising is configured to be suitable for a general audience. If you believe a child has provided information through one of our apps, contact us and we will help.

8. Security

Our apps store nothing sensitive. Communication with Apple and Google services is encrypted in transit.

9. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. Because we hold no personal data ourselves, requests relating to advertising data should be directed to Google, and requests relating to Game Center or purchases to Apple; we are happy to help you do so. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our apps change or when a new app is added to the list above. The effective date at the top will be updated and material changes will be noted in the relevant app's release notes.
