The short version
Calm Ventures Ltd is now Gravelship. Same company, same registration (no. 16891800), same products, same fixed-quote way of working, and the same person — me — building the software and answering the emails. The name, the domain, and the look have changed. Nothing about how we work with clients has.
Why change a perfectly good name?
Honestly? Calm Ventures never stuck. It described how we like projects to feel, but it sounded like a holding company or a meditation app, and people struggled to remember it. When your whole pitch is "you talk to the person who builds it," being forgettable is a real cost.
Gravelship is different. It's odd enough to remember, distinctive enough to own outright in search results, and it gives us something a generic name never could: a story you can picture.
Why a ship?
Our logo is a cargo ship under sail, and it's carrying more than gravel. Most of the businesses we build for are operational: care rotas, field crews, race schedules, order flows. Heavy, unglamorous, essential cargo. The job is to move it reliably — through complexity, in all weather, without drama.
That's the standard we hold our software to. Built to navigate complexity. Moving businesses forward. If that sounds like marketing, it's also literally what a rota system does at 6am on a bank holiday when three carers call in sick.
What actually changed
- The name and domain — calmventures.co.uk is now gravelship.com. Every page kept its address, just on the new domain.
- The look — a new deep-blue palette, the ship mark, and a redesigned site. Same obsession with speed: every page still scores 100 across the board in Lighthouse.
- Nothing else. Our products keep their names — CalmRota, EndorseHQ, and CalmStaff. Existing contracts, quotes, and support all continue exactly as they were.
What this means if you're a client
Emails now come from gravelship.com. Invoices say Gravelship Ltd with the same company number you've always had on file. If you've bookmarked the old site, the pages live at the same paths here. That's the entire migration checklist from your side: none.
And if you're not a client yet
The offer is the same one we've always made: a free conversation about the thing your spreadsheets can't do any more, a written specification, and a fixed quote before any build work begins. If a £30/month tool would solve it, we'll tell you to buy the £30/month tool.
Tell us what you're trying to move — we'll help you ship it.
